NAGTALA ng pagtaas ang manufacturing output ng bansa noong Hunyo para bahagyang makabawi matapos ang dalawang magkasunod na buwan na contraction, ayon sa IHS Markit Philippines Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI).
Ang manufacturing index para sa Hunyo ay naitala sa 50.8 mula 49.9 noong Mayo.
Ang iskor na mas mataas sa 50 ay nagpapakita ng pagbuti ng sektor habang ang mas mababa sa 50 ay pagsama.
“June data highlighted a partial rebound in the Filipino manufacturing sector following two consecutive months of contraction seen at the start of the second quarter,” pahayag ni IHS Markit economist Shreeya Patel.
Iniulat din ng IHS Markit na tumaas ang demand para sa Philippine-produced goods sa ikalawang sunod na buwan, kung saan ang growth rate noong Hunyo ay mas malakas sa historical average.
Gayunman, habang lumuwag ang quarantine measures sa NCR Plus, ang modified enhanced community quarantine na idineklara sa ibang lugar sa bansa ay nagresulta sa pagbaba ng domestic demand, ayon sa report.
“It was not all good news in June, however, with MECQ (modified enhanced community quarantine) measures persisting and, in some instances, delaying the supply of inputs. Meanwhile, rising raw material and transportation costs were often faced by goods producers during the month. Output prices rose further, and at the quickest rate in over two years, suggesting firms are committed to somewhat cushioning any potential losses,” ani Patel.
