BUMAGAL ang paglago ng manufacturing sector ng bansa noong Mayo, ayon sa survey ng S&P Global.
Ang headline S&P Global Philippines Manufacturing PMI ay nasa 51.9 noong nakaraang buwan, mas mababa sa five-month high na 52.2 noong Abril. Ang reading na mas mataas sa 50.0 threshold ay nagpapakita ng expansion, habang ang levels na mas mababa ay contraction.
“The Filipino manufacturing sector continued to report further gains mid-way through the second quarter, with growth sustained in new orders and output. Further expansions in business requirements supported a rise in purchasing activity and inventories,” sabi ni S&P Global Market Intelligence economist Maryam Baluch.
Pagdating sa employment, ang Philippine-based manufacturing companies ay nag-ulat ng job shedding sa unang pagkakataon magmula noong December 2023, na pinakamabilis sa loob ng siyam na buwan.
“Though with backlogs continuing to fall, goods producers still appear equipped to deal with tasks on hand. Latest data also signaled a fall in input prices, with some companies attributing this to a switch to new suppliers.
“However, charges continued to rise, indicating that firms wished to maintain and build their margins,” dagdag pa ni Baluch.
