KAPUWA tumaas ang production volume at value noong Setyembre, ayon sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Sa datos ng PSA, ang  volume of production index (VoPi) ay tumaas ng 4 percent noong ­Setyembe ng kasaluku­yang taon mula sa 5.7-percent decline noong 2017.

Ang VoPi noong Setyembre ay pinalakas ng paglobo ng output sa 11 major industries, kung saan anim na industriya ang nag-tala ng double-digit growths, kabilang ang textiles sa 44.7 percent, petroleum products sa 26.7 percent, machinery maliban sa electrical sa 20.1 percent, miscellaneous manufactures sa 16.5 percent, transport equipment sa 16.2 percent, at non-metallic mineral products sa 13.3 percent.

Gayundin, ang ­value of production index (VaPi) ay nakabawi mula sa 6.2-percent drop nito noong nakaraang taon sa pagtala ng 3.7 porsiyentong paglago noong ­Setyembre 2018.

“Eight major industries significantly contributed to the VaPi growth led by textiles, which increased by 51.3 percent. This is followed by petroleum products, up by 50.3 percent; miscellaneous manufactures, up by 21.5 percent; machinery except electrical, up by 18.2 percent; transport equipment, up by 17.7 percent; electrical machinery, up by 17.4 percent; paper and paper products, up by 16.7 percent; and beverages, up by 13.6 percent,” ayon sa PSA.

“Meanwhile, 55 percent of major industries operated their manufacturing facilities at least 80 percent of capacity utilization rate.”

Ang nasabing mga industriya na may capacity utilization rate na 80 percent and above noong Setyembre ay ang petroleum products, basic metals, non-metallic mineral products, machinery except electrical, chemical products, electrical machinery, food manufacturing, paper at paper products, rubber at plastic products, wood at wood products, at textiles.

Ang average capacity utilization rate ng manufacturing sector noong  Setyembre ay nasa 84.2 percent.

Sa manufacturing survey ng IHS Markit para sa Setyembre, ang  manufacturing performance ng bansa ang na­nguna sa South-east Asia.

Ayon kay IHS Markit Principal Economist Bernard Aw, ang paglago ng manufacturing ay dahil sa mataas na domestic demand.                     PNA
