UPANG matiyak na ‘alive and kicking’ ang sport sa panahon ng pandemya, idaraos ng Samahang Kickboxing ng Pilipinas (SKP) ang online Kickboxing Musical Form National Championship sa susunod na buwan.
Sinabi ni Atty. Wharton Chan, SKP secretary-general, sa Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) webcast na bukas ang torneo sa lahat ng practitioners sa iba’t ibang age groups (10-12, 13-15, 16-18 at 19-40 years old).
“We want to give our kickboxers the chance to show their sportsmanship through showmanship during the pandemic,” wika ni Chan, at idinagdag na magkakaroon ng dalawang kategorya — hard style at creative form.
Ayon kay kickboxing coach Moriel Acquisio, bagama’t ang parehong kategorya ay nasa anyo ng imaginary fights, ang pagkakaiba ay sa hard style, ang entries ay maaaring samahan ng kanilang mapipiling musika.
“We are expecting great volume. This is a rare tournament because participants can do it from their homes, their backyards or their offices, then submit their videos online or through our website,” sabi ni Chan.
Gayunman, nilinaw ni Acquisio na bagama’t walang limit sa bilang ng attempts para sa bawat video entry, ang mga kalahok ay hindi maaaring magsagawa ng anumang editing.
“If they make a mistake, they can do it again and start with a new video. But they cannot edit the videos,” sabi ng kickboxing coach, na mangangasiwa sa technical side ng torneo.
