LUMAGDA ang Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Credit Policy Council (DA-ACPC) at ang Land Bank of the Philippines sa isang memorandum of agreement para sa pagpapatupad ng P1.5-billion recovery assistance program para sa mga rice farmer na naapektuhan ng pagbaba ng presyo ng palay.
Ang kasunduan ay nilagdaan noong Agosto 28 nina Agriculture Secretary William Dar at ACPC Executive Director Jocelyn Alma Badiola, gayundin nina LandBank president Cecille Borromeo at first vice president for Lending Program Management Group Emellie Tamayo.
Ito ay nasa ilalim ng SURE Aid Program na naglalayong matulungan ang mga magsasaka na ang kita ay naapektuhan ng pagbagsak ng farm gate prices ng palay.
“The SURE Aid Program is a financial assistance that is very affordable for small rice farmers as they just need to set aside P1,875 per year to pay off their loan,” ayon kay Dar.
“Credit is such a very important strategy to make it possible to develop and grow Philippine agriculture,” anang kalihim.
“Credit must be affordable, accessible and the ease of doing business will be our principle in terms of simplifying the process for the common farmer,” dagdag pa niya.
