“Damages and losses from Typhoon ‘Rosita’ (now Severe Tropical Storm) is now at P1.82 billion, affecting a total of 90,052 hectares of agricultur-al areas in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Regions I, II and III with an estimated volume of production loss at 98,060 metric tons,” wika ni Piñol sa kanyang Facbook post
“The increase in values is attributed to the reports of CAR, Regions I and II. These values are subject to validation,” aniya.
Province, La Union, Pangasinan, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac at Zambales.
“This commodity also contributes mainly to the overall damages and losses at 76.67 percent,” ani Piñol.
“The affected area is now at 76,696 hectares out of the total rice standing crop of 543,993 hectares, while the volume of production loss is at 73,337 metric tons,” sabi pa niya.
“The affected area is 6,317 hectares out of the total corn standing crop of 96,030 hectares. The estimated volume of production loss is at 519 metric tons. Most of the affected corn crops are on their seedling stage,” ani Piñol.
“Region II is also the most affected region in terms of damages and losses in corn amounting to P 45.11 million (95.90 percent) with Isabela as the most affected province with an amount of P 37.61 million (61.84 percent),” dagdag pa niya.
“Poultry farms, piggeries and other livestock also sustained damage amounting to P2.51 million, while damage to fisheries was placed at P881,000,” anang kalihim.
“Those affected in fisheries include sea urchin produce, lift nets, payao and facilities (Community Fish Landing Center (CFLC), Regional Maricul-ture Technodemo Center (RMATDEC), and Integrated Fisheries Laboratory (IFL) in the provinces of Ilocos Norte, La Union and Pangasinan affecting 12 fisherfolk.”
VERLIN RUIZ
