P45-M AID VS COVID-19 IPAGKAKALOOB NG CANADA SA PH

MAGKAKALOOB ang Canadian government ng mahigit sa 1.2 million Canadian dollars (tinatayang P45 million) bilang tulong sa pakikipaglaban ng Filipinas sa coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“The COVID-19 pandemic is a global threat that does not recognize borders and can only be overcome through coordinated action around the world. The Government of Canada is therefore pleased to partner with the Philippines in its efforts to combat the virus,” pahayag ng Canadian Embassy sa Manila.

Bahagi ng ayuda ng Canada ay ang donasyon ng 120,000 N95 masks na nagkakahalaga ng P29.5 million.

Magdaragdag din ang Ca­nada ng 400,000 Canadian dollars o P15 million sa umiiral na 17.8 million Canadian dollars Sexual Health and Empowerment Philippines (SHE) project sa Oxfam upang matiyak ang tuloy-tuloy na pagkakaloob ng sexual at reproductive health services sa panahon ng pan­demya.

“This investment complements ongoing response activities, including the establishment of an emergency hotline for health services and gender-based violence, procurement of PPE (personal protective equipment) for barangay health workers, and distribution of family planning information materials,” sabi pa ng embahada.

Ang dagdag na pondo ay susuporta sa core activities ng  SHE project na layong mapag­husay ang kalidad,  availabi­lity, at pagkakaloob ng health services sa mahigit 85,000 kababaihan ng reproductive ages, gayundin sa adolescent girls at  boys sa conflict-affected at disadvantaged regions sa bansa.

Ang Filipinas ay isa rin sa beneficiary-countries na tatanggap ng COVID-19 diagnostic equipment, testing kits, reagents, at laboratory consumables bilang bahagi ng 5 million Canadian dollars global project na pinopondohan ng Canada sa pamamagitan ng International Atomic Energy Agency.    PNA
