NASAMSAM ng mga tauhan ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang tinatayang nasa P50 milyong halaga ng medical supplies at equipment mula sa mga bodegang sinalakay nila sa Wilson Street, Greenhills, San Juan at Malabon City, na pagmamay-ari ng Omnibus Biomedical System, Inc..

Ang naturang kompanya ay tinukoy kamakailan sa isang pagdinig sa Senado na nagbebenta umano ng overpriced automatic extraction machines sa pamahalaan at iniimbestigahan na rin dahil sa akusasyong sangkot umano sa smuggling operations.

Dito na naghinala ang mga awtoridad na sangkot ito sa hoarding at pagbebenta ng  overpriced medical supplies at mga equipment gaya ng high-pressure stream sterilizer, blood bags, books, real-time quantitative thermal cycler, at iba pang medical supplies at equipment.

Kaagad ding sinalakay ng BOC ang mga bodega ng kompanya, sa pamamagitan ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), sa tulong ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) nitong Mayo 28.

Isinilbi ng mga awtoridad ang Letter of Authority at Mission Order na nilagdaan ni BOC Commissioner Guerrero sa mga Chinese nationals na naabutan nila sa bodega nang isagawa ang operasyon.

Nakatakda na rin umanong sampahan ng kaso ng BOC ang kompanya dahil sa pagkabigong magpakita ng katibayan na nagbabayad sila ng kanilang duties at taxes sa pamahalaan.

Matatandaang hindi ito ang unang pagkakataon na sinalakay ng BOC-CIIS ang isang tindahan o warehouse na nagbebenta ng overpriced medical supplies.

Nakakumpiska na rin kamakailan ang ahensiya ng may P5 milyong halaga ng personal protective equipment (PPE) at medical supplies mula sa isang tindahan sa Binondo, Manila at umano’y mga gamot sa COVID-19 sa Singalong, Malate.

Umaasa naman ang mga awtoridad na ang mga naturang operasyon nila ay magbibigay ng malinaw na mensahe sa lahat ng negosyante na sangkot sa hoarding at pagbebenta ng overpriced medical supplies ngayong panahon ng emergency, na gagawin nila ang lahat para maipatupad ang batas.

Hindi rin umano nila kukunsintihin ang mga indibidwal o kompanya na nagsasamantala sa pandemic situation para kumita ng pera.

Sa ilalim ng RA Act 7581 o The Price Act at RA 11469 o The Bayanihan to Heal As One Act, nakasaad na marapat na maparusahan sa ilalim ng batas ang mga taong mapapatunayang sangkot sa profiteering o pagkita ng malaki at unfair profits, sa panahon ng emergency.
