HINDI sasabak si Manny Pacquiao sa ibabaw ng ring ngayong taon, ayon kay Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach.
Si Pacquiao, 41, ay huling lumaban kontra Keith Thurman noong July 2019 kung saan namayani siya via split decision upang kunin ang WBA world welterweight title.
Naniniwala si Roach na ang Filipino ring icon ay lalaban pa ng dalawang beses bago magretiro, subalit wala isa man sa mga ito ang mangyayari ngayong taon.
“He won’t fight this year but if this ever goes away and I’m not sure it will because it’s getting worse and worse, not better and better—but I think Manny will fight once or twice more before he becomes the president of his country. And then he will retire,” pahayag ni Roach sa boxingscene.com.
“He will fight again, I feel, and from when I’ve talked to him, he wants to fight once or twice more.”
May mga pangalan nang lumutang na makakalaban ni Pacquiao, maging ang laban sa Middle East ay nabanggit bilang potential venue para sa susunod na laban ng Pambansang Kamao, subalit sinabi ni Roach na wala pang malinaw.
“But the thing is, it could be anywhere from the US to Saudi Arabia, anywhere,” ani Roach.
“They were talking about Mikey Garcia and I said, ‘Yeah, that’s the perfect fight for Manny.’ But I don’t think we’ll really know until this [pandemic] is over.”
