PAGCOR NAG-REMIT NG P256-M SA PSC

HINDI na kailangang mag-alala ang mga atleta na naghahanda para sa 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games hinggil sa kanilang training makaraang tanggapin ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ang P256.38 million mula sa Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) noong Huwebes.

Ang halaga ay kumakatawan sa mandated contributions ng Pagcor sa PSC para sa November (P124.45 million) at December (P131.93 million) noong nakaraang taon.

Personal na ipinagkaloob ni Pagcor chair and CEO Alejandro Tengco ang tseke kay newly appointed PSC Chairman Richard Bachmann sa Pagcor Executive Office sa Manila.

“With the amount that we remitted, we hope to contribute significantly to the training of our national athletes for various international competitions and to the further development of Philippine sports. Our future remittances will be bigger as our operations are slowly easing back to normalcy,” sabi ni Tengco.

Labis ang pasasalamat ni Bachmann sa Pagcor, at sinabing, “This is definitely a big help to us as there are already a lot of requests coming from the NSAs (National Sports Associations) for equipment that they need for the training of their athletes for the coming SEA Games. We have no more funding problems when it comes to this.”

Ang Cambodia SEA Games ay gaganapin sa Phnom Penh sa May 5-17.

Ang Pagcor ay may malaking papel na ginampanan sa matagumpay na hosting ng 2019 SEA Games makaraang mag-donate ng P842.5 million para sa renovation ng track and football field at indoor Ninoy Aquino Stadium, kapwa nasa loob ng 85-year-old Rizal Memorial Sports Complex sa Manila, at ng Multi-Purpose Arena sa Philsports Complex sa Pasig City.

Nagkaloob din ang ahensiya ng pondo sa Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee.

Bukod sa remittances, ang Pagcor ay nagbibigay rin ng cash rewards sa mga atleta at kanilang coaches na nagwagi sa major international sports competitions.

Sa ilalim ng Republic Act 10699, o ang National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act, ang incentives ay magmumula sa Pagcor, na kukunin sa National Sports Development Fund nito.
