PAGSIGLA PA NG LOCAL MINING INDUSTRY TINIYAK

Dr Walter W Brown-2

CAMP JOHN HAY, BAGUIO CITY – Sa muling pagsasanib-puwersa ng mga kasapi ng Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) at ng Chamber of Mines of the Philippines (COMP), tiniyak ang lalo pang pagsigla at katatagan ng lokal na industriya ng pagmimina at ang patuloy na pagbibigay nito ng malaking kontribusyon para sa kaunlaran ng bansa.

Sa idinaos na Awards Night and Testimonial Dinner kaugnay ng 66th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) kamakailan, inihayag ni PMSEA President at Apex Mining Company Inc. Chairman Emeritus Dr. Walter W. Brown ang pagbabalik nito sa prestihiyosong organisasyon ng COMP.

“We are rejoining the ‘chamber of mines’, the reason why we left is something that is of the past. And our agreement is we forget the past, we move forward, we look look at the future and we will work together,” ang bungad ng respetadong PMSEA president sa kanyang welcome address kaugnay ng nabanggit na okasyon, na ginanap noong nakaraang Biyernes ng gabi dito.

“The reason for these three words, CULTURE: We look at our own culture, we look at the culture of the indigenous people but we also look at our own; That we look with CARE: We look with care and compassion… And we all work for CHANGE, not only the change in the people that we need to help, but change within ourselves. And if we all work together these way, there’s no stopping us and I think we will make progress and we will build a great nation together,” sabi ni Brown.

Ang naturang pahayag ng Apex Mining Company Inc. chairman emeritus ay bilang pagbibigay-diin na rin niya sa tema ng katatapos na ANMSEC, na ‘66 Years of Responsible Mining: CULTURE, CARE, CHANGE’.

Sa pamamagitan naman ni Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Undersecretary for Climate Change and Mining Concerns Atty.

“The emergency response team of the mining companies were always the first one to provide search, rescue and relief operations during those dire moments of natural disaster. Let me salute those brave miners who had risked their own lives to save others. We recognize that this is over and above your social responsibility, thus we thank you for showing care and concern for our countrymen,” nakasaad sa talumpati ng kalihim.

Labo Exploration and Development Corporation (Mineral Exploration category), Mindanao Mineral Processing and Refining Corporation (Mineral Processing category), Republic Cement and Building Materials, Inc.–Bulacan (Quarry Operation category), Holcim Mining and Development Corporation–Davao (Quarry Operation category), habang ang  Agata Mining Ventures, Inc. at Cagdianao Mining Corp. ay kapwa pinarangalan para sa Surface Mining category.

Sa ilalim din ng PMIEA, ang Filminera Resources Corp. at Taganito HPAL Nickel Corp. ay ginawaran ng Titanium Award at 15 naman ang tumanggap ng Platinum Award, kabilang ang Coral Bay Nickel Corp., Holcim Mining and Development Corp., LafargeHolcim Aggregates Inc., Holcim Resources and Development Corp., Carmen Copper Corp., Hinatuan Mining Corp. at Apex Mining Company Inc. at iba pa.   ROMER R.
