PAKIKISAMA, MASAMA BA O MABUTI?

MAY mga katangian ang mga Filipino na pwedeng masabing parehong lakas at kahinaan natin. Isa na rito ang pakikisama. Lakas at kahinaan itong nagbibigay sa atin ng sense of rootedness at seguridad, na kapwa kailangan sa lahat ng paraan upang mag-reach out sa ibang tao. Gayundin, natututo tayong mag-blend sa iba bukod sa ating pamilya, sa komunidad at sa bansa.

Isa sa pagkakakilanlan sa Filipino ay ang “pakikisama”. Pakikisama, isang katangiang distinct sa mga Pinoy. Sa English, “getting along with others”. Ito ang tunay na pagkilala sa pagsasamahan o togetherness. Parang group harmony ng magkakabarkada at magkakaibigan. Gusto kasi ng mga taong maki-get along kesa naman mag-isa ka lang.

Mahalaga ang pakikisama sa trabaho, sa iskwelahan, sa kapitbahay – kahit saan. Ang mga Westerners, mahilig makipagtalo, mag-disagree at masyadong straightforward o prangka, pero sa mga Pinoy, kabastusan ito. Minsan kasi, nakakasakit ng damdamin – nasasaling ang amor propio (pride) at nakakababa ng self-esteem.

Sa negatibong  pananaw, pinipigil ng pakikisama ang malisyosong pagtatago ng impormasyon o kaalaman para malagay ang kapwa Pinoy sa mahirap na sitwasyon. Sa positibong paraan naman, ang pakikisama ay nagpapa-realize sa atin na kapag kapag may ginawa tayong makakasakit sa iba, masasaktan din natin ang ating sarili at ang      ating bayan.
