TIWALA ang Malacañang na makababangon ang ekonomiya ng Filipinas sa kabila ng mas mahigpit na quarantine measures na ipinatupad sa NCR Plus dahil sa pagtaas ng mga kaso ng COVID-19.

“Puwede pang maka-recover,” pahayag ni  Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque sa isang virtual press conference.

“Pero naniniwala naman po tayo na makakahabol tayo.”

Ginawa ni Roque ang pahayag kasunod ng pagtaya ng Moody’s Analytics na posibleng bumalik ang Filipinas sa pre-pandemic level nito sa 2022 at mapag-iiwanan sa rehiyon sa gitna ng pandemya.

Ibinaba rin ng Moody’s Analytics ang gross domestic product projection nito sa  5.3 percent mula sa naunang forecast nito na 6.3 percent annual growth para sa 2021.

Aminado si Roque na mabagal ang paglago ng ekonomiya ng bansa sa panahon ng pinakamahigpit na enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) at ng mas maluwag na modified ECQ (MECQ) sa Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, at Rizal.

“Inaamin nga po natin na nakakalungkot na dahil nga po sa pagpasok ng mga bagong variant eh we had to resort to MECQ na naging dahilan para maging sarado ang 60 percent ng ating ekonomiya dito sa Metro Manila Plus,” aniya.

Gayunman ay nananatiling kumpiyansa si Roque sa pagbangon ng ekonomiya.

“Sana hindi naman po,” ani Roque, at sinabing sa pagtaya ng National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), ang ekonomiya ng bansa ay maaaring lumago ng 6 to 7 percent ngayong taon sa kabila ng lockdowns.

Ang NCR Plus ay isinailallm sa ECQ simula March 29 hanggang April 11. Ang quarantine status kalaunan ay ibin-aba sa  MECQ mula April 12 hanggang May 14.
