INAASAHAN  na ng pamunuan ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) na aabot sa 200 hanggang 300 kandidato ang maghahain ng kani-kanilang kandidatura para sa 2022 national and local elections na nakatakdang simulan sa Oktubre.

“For this elections, we’re looking at a lot of candidates especially since nakita natin last elections that a lot of people really filed for COC, especially for the position of senator,” ayon kay Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez, sa isang panayam sa telebisyon.

“We’re looking upwards of around 200 to 300 [candidates] might come. We’re also going to hold the filing doon sa mismong partylist. So talagang marami,” aniya pa.

Sinabi ni Jimenez na dahil sa inaasahang maraming kandidatong maghahain ng kandidatura ay nagpasya na rin ang Comelec na sa isa sa mga tent ng Sofitel hotel isagawa ang COC filing, sa halip na sa kanilang punong tanggapan sa Intramuros, Maynila, upang mas maraming kandidato ang makaya nilang i-accommodate.

Samantala, upang matiyak naman na walang hawahan ng COVID-19 na magaganap sa COC filing, sinabi ni Comelec chairman Sheriff Abas na maglalagay rin sila ng antigen testing sa lugar para sa COVID-19 testing ng mga kandidato, na mabibigong magprisinta ng negatibong resulta ng RT-PCR test.

Lilimitahan rin ang bilang ng mga kandidato na maghahain ng COCs sa site.

Ayon kay Abas, sa bawat partylist ay dalawa lang ang papayagang pumasok habang ang maghahain ng kandidatura para sa pagka-presidente, bise presidente, at mga senador, ay papayagang magsama ng hanggang tatlong katao.

“Ipapalinya natin sila. One at a time. ‘Di sila piwede magsabay-sabay. That’s why ita-traffic namin ‘yung papasok,” paliwanag pa ni Abas.
