PATULOY na nagkakaloob ang Small Business (SB) Corp., ang financing arm ng Department of Trade ang Industry (DTI), ng zero-interest loans sa micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sa pamamagitan ng COVID-19 Assistance to Restart Enterprises (CARES) program.
Sa ilalim ng Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2), naglaan ang gobyerno ng P10 billion sa DTI para sa CARES program P6 billion para sa tourism-related enterprises at P4-billion para sa iba pang MSMEs.
Ayon kay DTI Sec. Ramon Lopez, nasa P3.3 billion na loans na ang naipalabas ng SB Corp. para tulungan ang may 27,000 MSMEs.
Aniya, ang mga umuutang sa tourism sector ay kaunti lamang dahil maraming tourism businesses ang sarado.
“Borrowers are reluctant (to borrow) because if their businesses are closed they can’t commit to pay,” ani Lopez.
Samantala, sinabi ni Lopez na 13 porsiyento ng MSMEs ang nananatiling sarado sa ilalim ng modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) sa NCR (National Capital Region) Plus area.
Umaasa si Lopez na maibabalik ang NCR Plus sa general quarantine community (GCQ) status sa Mayo 1.
“But there’s an ‘if’; if we really ramp up the ICU (intensive care unit) beds, the health care system… If we are able to commit that before the end of (April), it’s possible that we move to GCQ and have a granular lockdown,” aniya.
