NAKAHARAP ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang miyembro ng U.S. Congressional Delegation (CODEL) at pinasalamatan ang mga ito sa suporta sa alyansa ng Estados Unidos at Pilipinas.
Sinabi ng Pangulo na tinatamasa na ang bunga ng magandang relasyon ng dalawang bansa.
“The fruits of those partnership, of those alliance that we are now forming to face up to these new challenges that we really had before are I think is very true although we are [coming] from resolution at least to manage the situation.”
“Again, on behalf of the Philippines, we express our gratitude for all the United States has done and continues to do in support of our alliance and to strong adherence for the Philippines,” ayon sa Pangulo.
Ang U.S. Congressional delegation ay pinamumunuan ni Rep. Michael T. McCaul (Republican-Texas), Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and Chairman Emeritus of the House Committee on Homeland Security at siya ay tinanggap sa Malacanang ng Punong Ehekutibo.
Kasama ni McCaul si Rep. Addison Graves Wilson (Republican- 2nd district of South Carolina), na miyembro ng House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Nagpasalamat din si McCaul kay Pangulong Marcos at pinuri ang lider sa maganda nitong talumpati sa Shangri-La Dialogue sa Singapore noong Mayo.
“The supplemental (appropriation) is very important, we see Israel, see Ukraine, see Indo-Pacific—three areas in the world, three regions [receiving] attack from tyrannical governments. We see President Putin and President Xi made an alliance in Beijing,” ayon kay McCaul at iginiit na kasama ang Pilipinas sa Foreign Military Financing (FMF).
Una nang nagpahayag ang American officials sa 4th PH-U.S. 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue ng planong pagbibigay ng $500 million sa Pilipinas mula sa $2.5 billion FMF supplemental budget para sa Indo-Pacific.
Ang US ay pinakamatagal na treaty ally ng Pilipinas.
Ang bilateral defense at security engagement ay nananatiling key pillar ng Philippines-U.S bilateral relations at kasama ang Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT), Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA), Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA), at iba pa.
Ang dalawang bansa ay nagkaroon ng formal diplomatic relations noong July 4, 1946 at mahigit 78 taon na ang kanilang alyansa. EVELYN QUIROZ
