TUMAAS ang  gross international reserves (GIR) level ng bansa sa $108.89 billion sa pagtatapos ng 2021, ayon sa datos ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Ang kabuuan ay mas mataas ng $1.17 billion kumpara sa $107.72 billion level noong Nobyembre.

“The latest GIR level represents more than adequate external liquidity buffer equivalent to 10.3 months’ worth of imports of goods and payments of services and primary income,” ayon sa central bank.

Ito ay 8.8 beses din ng short-term external debt ng bansa base sa original maturity, at 5.9 beses  base sa residual maturity.

“The month-on-month increase in the GIR level reflected mainly the national government’s net foreign currency deposits with the BSP and upward adjustment in the value of the BSP’s gold holdings due to the increase in the price of gold in the international market,” paliwanag pa ng BSP.

Tumaas din ang net international reserves — ang pagkakaiba sa pagitan ng GIR at ng reserve liabilities — sa naturang buwan, tumaas ng $1.19 billion sa $108.89 billion mula $107.7 billion sa naunang buwan.
