BINIGYANG-DIIN ni Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez ang pangangailangan para madagdagan ang mga produktong Philippine (PH) Halal sa domestic at export markets para mapalaki ang oportunidad ng lumalagong global Halal market na nagkakahalaga ng USD 2.6 trillion.
Sa ginanap na 2nd PH National Halal Conference noong Hulyo 3 sa Quest Conference Center sa Clark, Pampanga, mariing sinabi ni Sec. Lopez na ang Halal ay hindi lamang sertipikasyon para sa mga produkto na laan lamang para sa Muslim market kundi ito ay isang lumalagong sektor na nagkaroon na ng consumer acceptance kahit na sa non-Muslim consumers.
“Halal is not just for the Muslims, it is a way of life. It connotes purity, cleanliness, safety, quality — so many positive attributes that are now being recognized by non-Muslim consumers worldwide. Halal-certified products are associated with these attributes. Maximizing its opportunities will help the government in realizing President Rodrigo Duterte’s vision of providing better and comfortable lives for all Filipinos by creating more jobs. And we can do this by tapping Halal’s booming global market and taking advantage of more business opportunities,” pahayag ni Sec. Lopez.
Bahagi ng USD 2.6 trillion global Halal market, ang 62 porsiyento ay nasa pagkain at inumin na sinundan ng pharmaceuticals na may 22 percent, cosmetics at personal care na may 10 percent at nutraceutical na may 6 percent.
“We encourage our MSMEs, especially in the countryside, to develop their products, and explore the opportunities in the growing demand for Halal-certified products,” sabi ni Sec. Lopez.
Ang merkado ng Halal ay tinatayang aabot sa USD 10 trillion pagdating ng 2025. Ang food at beverage ay inaasahang aabot sa USD 1.93 trillion sa 2022 mula sa USD 1.25 trillion noong 2016. Nakikitang lalago rin ang Halal tourism, na may bahagi ng USD 169 billion noong 2016 at inaasahang aabot sa USD 283 billion pagdating ng 2022. Ang iba pang serbisyo tulad ng Islamic Finance and Islamic Commercial Banking na pinagsama ay may USD 3 trillion noong 2016 at inaasahang aabot sa mahigit na USD 6 trillion pagdating ng 2022.
“I am optimistic that with greater collaboration between various sectors, we can support more MSMEs, encourage them to do and grow their businesses, and help us in developing more Halal hubs in the country catering to domestic as well as export markets,” sabi ng hepe ng trade agency.
Nagsilbing daan din ang komperensiya para sa DTI, bilang Chair ng PH Halal Board, para opisyal na ilunsad ang PH Halal logo, na gagamitin para sa mga produktong Halal na gawa sa Filipinas.
“We would like to see notable exports of our Halal products in the future. With this logo, our products can be identified easily by consumers as Halal-certified products,” sabi pa ni Sec. Lopez.
Ibinahagi rin ng trade chief na ang DTI accreditation bureau ay magpapatupad ng isang special window para mag-cater sa PH Halal Certification Bodies.
Ayon sa DTI, ang kasalukuyang Halal logo ng Halal certification bodies ay papayagan pa rin, lalo na at ito ay bahagi ng respective internal requirements.
