Their (minority US senators) bullying won’t work. We will not be cowered. No foreign government, organization, or officer can exert pressure, let alone influence, Philippine courts to set free Sena-tor Leila De Lima, who is facing multiple indictments for drug-related offenses before several branches of the Muntinlupa regional trial court.
“Her petition assailing the charges was junked by the Supreme Court by a vote of 9-6. Our courts are independent and cannot be dictated upon by a foreign power, much less by an insignificant number of US senators and European parliamentarians.
“Their interferences on the domestic affairs of the Philippines should warrant an appropriate response from our government. Senators Hontiveros and Pangilinan may be in breach of the Code of Conduct & Ethical Standards for Public Officers & Employees for supporting the intrusion by 5 US senators into the affairs of the Philippines.
“The law calls on public officials to manifest patriotism and nationalism.
“Presumptive vice-president Robredo is at it again. Her statement of support to the US Senate panel’s approval of the Durbin/Leahy amendment not only makes her in breach of the Code of Conduct & Ethical Standards for Public Officers & Employees, but also a clear betrayal of the public’s trust. In war time, that would constitute Treason. She keeps on committing one impeachable act after another.”
