BILANG paghahanda sa 2021 Southeast Asian Games na gaganapin sa Vietnam at sa iba pang highly competitive tournaments, sasabak ang mga Pinay sa anim na international volleyball competitions sa Asia.
Ayon kay Philippine Superliga Volleyball official Ariel Paredes, walong foreign invitations ang tinanggap ng mga Pinay para sa mga torneo sa China, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar at Hong Kong.
Dalawang torneo ang gagawin sa China at Chinese Taipei at tig-isa sa Thailand at Indonesia.
“Actually, eight foreign invitations reached our office inviting our players to compete in their tournaments. Because of financial constraint, we will play only in six competitions and skip the tournaments in Myanmar and Hong Kong,” sabi ni Paredes.
“The six foreign competitions, for sure, will sharpen the individual skills of the players and enrich their experience,” wika ni Paredes.
“Myanmar at Hong Kong extended their invitation inviting our players to play in their tournaments. Limited budget forced us not to compete in Myanmar and Hong Kong,” aniya.
Bukod sa anim na overseas competitions, may local tournaments, kasama ang Superliga Volleyball, ang lalahukan ng mga Pinay.
Hindi pinalad ang women’s at men’s volleyball teams na masungkit ang ginto sa 30th Southeast Asian Games kung saan nakopo ng Filipinas ang overall crown. CLYDE MARIANO
