Si Presidente Rodrigo Roa Duterte ang magiging panauhing pandangal sa opening ceremony ng biennial meet kung saan sasamahan siya nina Phil-ippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman at Chief of Mission William ‘Butch’ Ramirez, Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president at Con-gressman Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino at Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) chief at Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano at ng foreign luminaries ng Southeast Asian Games Federation.
Pumapangalawa ang Indonesia na may 1,688 delegation (1,125 athletes), sumusunod ang Singapore, 1,591 (1,062 athletes); Thailand, 1,462 (1,048 athletes); Malaysia, 1,076 (824 athletes); Myanmar, 952 (774 athletes); Vietnam, 890 (627 athletes); Cambodia, 510 (413 athletes); Laos, 419 (313 ath-letes); Brunei, 257 (171 athletes); at Timor Leste na may 221 (169 athletes).
Sinabi ni Ramirez na normal sa isang host country na malaki ang delegation para malaki ang tsansa na manalo ng maraming medalya at makuha ang overall championship.
“This is the main reason we fielded many athletes to maximize the medal potentials,” sabi ni Ramirez.
