MAGIGING mabigat ang kanilang laban, subalit kumpiyansa ang Association of Bo­xing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP) sa kanilang tsansa sa 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Inamin ni ABAP Secretary-General Ed Picson na pinalakas ng ibang bansa ang kanilang rosters sa layuning mapataob ang mga Pinoy sa boxing competition ng prestihiyosong biennial meet na gaganapin sa Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) sa Pasay City simula sa December 3.

Sinabi ng boxing executive na hindi siya magbibigay ng anumang medal prediction, ngunit tiniyak na gagawin nila ang lahat para mabigyan ng karangalan ang bansa.

“I don’t do medal projections as there are too many variables that we have to consider. But I can say that our boxers are in excellent shape,” wika ni Picson, at idi­nagdag na ang officiating, conditioning at draw ay magiging pangunahing salik sa kanilang golden bid.

“But it’s going to be tough. It’s no longer just Thailand that will come up with a good fight. We have information that other countries are also coming in strong as they are now using foreign exposure and coaches while upgrading their technology to boost their chances,” aniya.

Ang boxing ay consistent medal winner para sa Team Philippines.
