UMABOT na sa P26,769,717,985 ang pinsala ng bagyong Ompong sa sektor ng agrikultura, ayon kay Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol.

Ayon kay Piñol, ang rice sub-sector ang nagtamo ng pinakamala­king pinsala na nasa P14,534,562,756.

“According to the reports co­ming from different regions, the updated damage report is P26.7 billion. Ang pinakamalaki nito is rice, P14.5 billion; mais, P8.1 billion; high value crops, P3.4 billion …” ani Piñol.

“This is the highest damage to agriculture since Yolanda. In Yolanda, we have P35 billion,” anang kalihim.

Ang fruit trees ay nagtamo naman ng P79 million na pinsala; livestock, P45 million; fisheries, P2 million; at irrigation facilities, machineries at iba pang  equipment, P528 million.

“What would be the total, in reports from the provinces, would be the total rehab requirements,” sabi pa ni Piñol.
