POLICY RATES ITINAAS ULIT NG BSP

SA IKA-5 pagkakataon ngayong taon ay itinaas ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) ang policy rates nito dahil sa inflationary risk.

Ayon kay BSP Deputy Governor Cyd N. Tuaño-Amador, nagpasiya ang policy-setting Monetary Board (MB) na itaas ang key overnight borrowing rate sa 4.75 percent.

Ang overnight lending rate ay tinaasan din ng 25 bps sa 5.25 percent at ang overnight deposit rate sa 4.25 percent.

Ang bagong policy rates ng central bank ay magkakabisa ngayong araw.

“The Monetary Board decided to raise the policy rate by 25 basis points given the upside risks to the inflation outlook and given that inflation expectations have remained elevated as supply-side and possible wage pressures continue to drive price developments,” wika ni Amador.

Ayon kay BSP Deputy Director Dennis Lapid, itinaas din ng Monetary Board ang inflation outlook nito para sa taon sa 5.3 percent mula sa 5.2 percent.

Subalit binago nito ang 2019 inflation forecast nito sa 3.5 percent mula sa 4.3 percent, at ang 2020 outlook nito sa 3.3 percent mula sa 3.2 percent.

“These revisions reflect expectations of monetary authorities that the government’s anti-inflation measures are in place and working.

“This incorporates the impact of the rice tariffication bill, as well as the announced suspension of the excise tax on oil,” wika ni Lapid.
