SUPORTADO ng Malacanang ang ginagawang hakbang ng ilang local government unit na magbigay ng freebies, insentibo, premyo o token (ayuda) sa mga magpapabakuna kontra COVID-19.
Naniniwala si Presidential Harry Roque na ang hakbang ay hindi naman isang uri ng panunuhol kundi isang panghihikayat para i-avail ng taumbayan ang libreng bakuna upang matapos na ang pandemya at tuluyan nang makabalik sa dating normal ang mundo.
“The local government units’ move to offer various stuff or prizes for those who would avail of the free vaccination against coronavirus disease among their constituents could not be considered as bribery but part of “overall marketing,” sabi ni Roque.
Ipinaalala rin ni Roque na lahat ay gagawin ng pamahalaan upang masolusyonan ang pandemya at isa rito ay maging herd community na ang Filipinas na magagawa lamang kung handa ang lahat sa bakuna.
“That’s not bribery, that’s marketing. All of our undertakings should have the communication and marketing and that is only part of their overall marketing because we all know that vaccination is really the solution to end this pandemic,” pagdiriin pa ni Roque.
Magugunitang ilang LGUs ang nag-alok na insentibo sa kanilang constituents para makapag-avail ng free COVID-19 jabs.
Gaya ng ginawa ni Las Pinas City Rep. Camille Villar na nagpa-raffle sa mga magpapabakuna at ang grand prize ay house and lot.
Ayon kay Villar isa aniyang pamamaraan ang pagpapa-raffle upang maengganyo ang kanilang mga constituent na magpabakuna.
Sinabi naman ni Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Benhur Abalos, na ang istratehiya ng mga LGU ay para sa vaccination program na pamahalaan na maituturing na innovation and marketing.
Ayon kay Abalos, mas magiging ligtas ang mga tao lalo na ang nga senior citizen kung mababakunahan sila sa lalong madaling panahon. EVELYN QUIROZ
