Hirit ng grupong Laban Konsyumer, dapat magtakdang muli ng price ceiling sa mga pangunahing bilihin kasama ang bigas para maibsan ang hirap ng mga mamamayan.
Para naman sa grupong Bantay Bigas, magpataw dapat ng price control na P28 hanggang P32 sa kada kilo ng bigas.
Ayon kay Bantay Bigas Spokesperson Cathy Estavillo, tuloy-tuloy ang pagtaas ng presyo ng mga bilihin dahil sa langis subalit napakamura ng presyo ng palay ngayon at napakaraming imported na bigas.
“Kahit ilang taon na napakababa ng presyo ng palay pero ‘yung bigas talagang hindi bumababa sa ipinangako ng Rice Liberalization Law na paaabutin niya ng P25,” ani Estavillo.
Ang hirit naman ng Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura, dapat ayuda sa mga magsasaka gaya ng subsidiya ang dapat na solusyon.
“Kung mag-cap sila sa market, mape-pressure down na naman ang mga nagbibili ng palay, baka bumaba pa ‘yan, ‘yun ang nakikita natin kung mag-cap sila sa presyo ng retail,” pahayag ni SINAG Chairman Rosendo So sa panayam sa telebisyon.
Hiniling nila na suportahan ang ani, presyo ng farmgate at tulungan sila, mga delivery sa Metro Manila, para matulungan din ang presyo.
Nasa P10 hanggang P13 ang farmgate price ng kada kilo ng bigas sa ngayon, subalit ang dapat na farmgate price ay nasa P17.50 para sa fresh na palay habang P19.50 hanggang P20 ang farmgate price para sa dry palay.
Dahil dito, wala nang kita ang mga magsasaka.
Nakapako pa rin sa P33 hanggang P40 ang kada kilo ng regular-milled na bigas habang nasa P36 hanggang P44 ang kada kilo ng well-milled rice, na halos walang pagkakaiba sa presyo ng bigas noong Oktubre 2020.
