PROBLEMA SA HITA NI KAWHI

It has almost been a year, July 2018 to be exact, nagkaroon si Kawhi ng matinding injury sa quadriceps na dahilan para siya ay ibangko at ultimately, bitiwan ng kaniyang dating koponan. Fast forward sa Canada (wala po sa America ang Toronto) kung saan naging mainit ang pagtanggap sa kaniya. Pinatuna­yan ng isang tahimik at walang garbong manlalaro na tulad ni Kawhi Leonard na “focus to the game” ang sikreto ng tagumpay. At kahit sa anumang challenges natin sa buhay.

Ngayong buwan ng Hunyo ay patutunayan niyang kaya nilang maging kampeon laban sa paboritong GSW. Hard work. Daily grind. Laserlike focus sa pangarap na tropeo. No to any distractions. ANG QUADRICEPS INJURY NI KAWHI

The quadriceps is made up of four muscles that are located on the front of the thigh. The muscle is responsible for flexing the hip and extending or straightening the knee. Kailangan ito para makatakbo at makata­lon ng maayos.

Maaaring masira ang quadriceps at mga litid nito dahil sa:

  • Contusion from a direct blow
  • Strain from overuse
  • Partial tear of the muscle
  • Tendinitis (inflammation)
  • Tendinosis (degeneration)
  • Scarring from repetitive injury
  • Tendon rupture

KAWHI

Nauunawaan ko si Kawhi kung bakit apektado ang kaniyang laro sa nakaraang injury. Makikita ang sarili kong knee X-ray last month matapos ang nangyaring injury sa leg press machine sa gym. Sa aking pagmamadaling makatapos dahil may hinahabol na trabaho ay nalimutan ko ang proper stretching bago sumabak sa pagbubuhat ng mabigat.

Nagkaroon ng ma­liit na punit sa nagkakabit ng aking tendon sa patella o knee cap.

Hindi lubha ang pagkirot nito ngunit may epekto sa bawat galaw ng tuhod. Limping o paika-ika sa paglakad at pagtakbo. Hindi makalundag ng maayos. Patuloy na pagkirot ng mga hita. Kung ito ay pupuwersahin ay maaaring ma­ging permanent injury.

Pinipilit si Kawhi na paglaruin sa mga crucial games nuon kahit nagdurusa at ayaw niya. The diagnosis from his former team says he has an injury only to his quadriceps tendon.

His own team of doctors believe Kawhi has Jumper’s Knee, which includes both patellar and quadriceps tendinopathy.

Jumper’s Knee is caused by overuse or repetitive movements such as running and jumping. The symptoms are pain over the knee and can present with or without swelling.

GAMUTAN NG SPRAIN AT STRAIN

Treatment most often involves R.I.C.E.  or Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. Physical therapy is also needed to help regain range of motion and muscle strength. Crutches or other gait-assist devices might be needed depending upon the level of pain. Emergency medical care should be considered if the patient cannot extend or straighten the knee, if there is intense pain, swelling, or numbness of the leg.

For self-care of an ankle sprain, use the R.I.C.E. approach for the first 2 or 3 days:

  • Rest – Avoid activities that cause pain, swelling or discomfort.
  • Ice – Use an ice pack or ice slush bath immediately for 15 to 20 minutes and repeat every 2 to 3 hours while you’re awake.
  • Compression – To help stop swelling, compress the ankle with an elastic bandage until the swelling stops. Don’t hinder circulation by wrapping too tightly. Begin wrapping at the end farthest from your heart.
  • Elevation – To reduce swelling, elevate your ankle above the level of your heart, especially at night. Gravity helps reduce swelling by draining excess fluid.
