BACOOR CITY – Nalusutan ng reigning champion Cignal ang late-game rallies ng Smart-Army upang maitakas ang 25-10, 26-24, 25-18 panalo sa Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga (PSL) Invitational Conference kagabi sa STRIKE Gym dito.
Pinatunayan ni Rachel Anne Daquis na isa pa rin siya sa pinakamahusay na spikers sa bansa nang mag-init sa stretch upang pangunahan ang HD Spikers sa kanilang ikalawang sunod na panalo sa torneo.
Tumapos si Daquis na may 13 points mula sa pitong spikes, apat na blocks at pares ng service aces habang pinangunahan ang depensa na may li-mang digs upang ilapit ang HD Spikers sa dalawang panalo sa pagkopo ng outright semifinals seat sa midseason conference.
“As I’ve I said before, you’ll see a different Daquis. She rotates and spikes everywhere. She is really confident in everything she does,” wika ni Cignal head coach Edgar Barroga.
“And I told her that this (Army) was her former team, they will target you so we practiced her reception.”
Nag-ambag si Mylene Paat ng 12 points mula sa pitong kills, apat na blocks at isang ace habang gumawa sina Rapril Aguilar at Janine Navarro ng tig-limang markers at nagkaloob ng clutch points sa second at third sets, ayon sa pagkakasunod.
“This is how I wanted them to play,” ani Barroga. “I think they already adjusted, their trust in each other is back, and they’re confident.”
