UMABOT na sa 1.9 million ang business registrations at renewals hanggang noong Martes, ayon kay Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez said.
Ani Lopez, ang numero ay tumaas mula sa 900,000 business registrations at renewals noong 2015.
“While there are business(es) that closed down, the number of new businesses that registered and those that renewed their businesses actually increased,” sabi ni Lopez sa isang television interview noong Martes ng gabi..
Aniya, hanggang walang extreme lockdowns na magaganap ay maraming sektor ang mananatiling bukas.
Dagdag pa niya, makatutulong ito para bumaba pa ang unemployment rate malapit sa pre-pandemic level na 5 percent.
Ang unemployment rate noong May 2021 ay nasa 7.7 percent, mas mababa sa 8.7 percent sa naunang buwan, gayundin sa 17.7 percent joblessness rate sa kasagsagan ng pandemya noong nakaraang taon.
“As long as we are able to reopen, we see (a) faster reaction to employment. In other words, more people are going back to work, more sectors, more businesses are opening up again,” sabi ni Lopez.
Sinabi rin ng trade chief na lubhang napapanahon ang direktiba ni Presidente Rodrigo Duterte na ipasa ang economic reform bills tulad ng pag-amyenda sa Foreign Investments Act, Retail Trade Liberalization Act, at Public Service Act habang naghahanap ang pamahalaan ng mga paraan para matamo ang economic recovery.
