Quezon City Police District director PBGen Ronnie Montejo ordered a massive crackdown against illegal gambling and issued a stern warning to all operators to stop dragging his name.

Montejo intensified the intelligence-gathering and mobilized the key operatives of the district against all forms of illegal gambling particularly the ‘jueteng’.

The QCDFU as lead unit led by PCpt Edwin B Fuggan, Police Station 10 led by PltCol Bernouli  D. Abalos and District Special Operations Unit (DSOU-QCPD) led by PMaj Fortunato Ty Ecle under the direct supervision of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) led by PltCol Robert Domingo immediately acted on the reported presence of illegal gambling and conducted “OPLAN BOLILYO and SALIKOP” yesterday (November 4) 4:30PM at No 8, K-6 Street, Barangay Kamuning, Quezon City.

The police operation resulted in the arrest of two (2) bet collectors, three (3) bettors and confiscation of the bet money amounting to three thousand two hundred ninety pesos (Php 3,290.00) and illegal gambling paraphernalia in Violation of Republic Act 9287 (Illegal Number Games).

The apprehended suspects were Porferio Laluces y Bayta Jr, male, 51 years old, born on June 24, 1969; Crisanto Bueno y Sumatra, 53 years old, Born on November 1, 1967; Mario Santos y Deguzman, male, 54 years old, born on October 22, 1967; Crispin Catacutan y Paras, male, 39 years old, born on January 7, 1981; and Edwin Nagañio y Santos, male, 50 years old, born on September 13, 1970, all residents of Barangay Kamuning and reported members of “HARRIS and GILBERT Group”, involved in illegal gambling in the city, reported under reference number QCDFU-NCR No 20-11-001, dated November 1, 2020.

Based on the ongoing investigation, the illegal numbers game in the city were being funded by a certain James and Rex and were part of the group of Baby Brutus, Pinong, Pining and Dante Doleng.

The QCPD chief instructed all stations commanders to immediately act against illegal gambling operations in their areas of responsibility and file appropriate charges to anyone who will continue to engage in illegal acts. PILIPINO Mirror Reportorial Team
