Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 12) — The Supreme Court on Tuesday released the results of the 2020-21 Bar Examinations, the first to be held digitally as the COVID-19 pandemic lingers.
Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen, chairperson of the exams, reported 8,241 out of 11,402 hopefuls passed. This is equivalent to a passing rate of 72.28%.
Leonen also announced that 14 examinees were recognized for “excellent performance” for having grades above 90%.
The University of the Philippines (UP) produced the largest number of excellent takers at four, followed by the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) and University of San Carlos (USC), which produced two each.
Meanwhile, Leonen said 761 takers “earned recognition for exemplary performance” after getting grades ranging from 85-90%. This accounts for 9.23% of total passers, he added.
UP also produced the highest tally of exemplary examinees at 147, followed by ADMU at 100, and San Beda University at 94. USC had 56, while Arellano University produced 39.
Among the group of biggest schools or those with over 100 first-time takers, ADMU had the highest passing rate at 99.6429%, followed by UP at 98.8406%.
Rounding up the top five were San Beda at 98.1061%, USC at 98%, and the University of Santo Tomas Manila at 93.0556%.
The latest exams happened after almost two years of waiting due to the global health crisis.
They were held in 31 sites nationwide in two days, veering away from the four-day exams held on Sundays prior to COVID-19 crisis.
