IKA-73 ang Pilipinas sa 97 pinakamahihirap na bansa sa buong mundo, ayon sa datos ng International Monetary Fund (IMF) para sa 2023.
Ito ang nakasaad sa ulat ni Luca Ventura sa website ng Global Finance na nalathala noong Disyembre 25,2023. Nakabase, aniya, ang naturang ranggo sa datos na inilabas sa International Monetary Fund World Economic Outlook, April 2023.
Ang Global Finance ay isang international magazine na nagbibigay ng economic reports sa iba’t ibang bansa, mga balita tungkol sa iba’t ibang ekonomiya sa mundo, bank listings, trade statistics at iba pang financial news.
Samantala, ang IMF ay isang major financial agency ng United Nations, at international financial institution na pinopondohan ng mahigit 190 bansang kasapi nito na ang headquarters ay matatagpuan sa Washington D.C. sa Amerika.
Ang inilistang 97 bansa na pinakamahihirap sa buong mundo ay iniranggo ng IMF base sa kanilang record ng gross domestic product (GDP) at Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) para sa nasabing taon.
Ang GDP o kabuuang domestikong produkto ay nagsasaad ng halagang pamilihan ng lahat ng pantungkuling kinikilalang huling mga kalakal at paglilingkod na nilikha sa loob ng isang bansa sa isang takdang panahon. Ang GDP bawat tao ay kadalasang itinuturing na paghihiwatig ng pamantayan ng pamumuhay ng mga ito.
Samantala, ang PPP ay ang teoriya sa pagkakatulad ng lakas ng pagbili o pagkakatulad ng kapangyarihang bumilli na gumagamit ng mahabang terminong timbang ng halaga ng palitan (exchange rate) sa dalawang pananalapi upang ipantay ang kanilang lakas ng pagbili.
Ang GDP per capita ay ang national income o kabuuang kita ng Pilipinas kapag pinaghati-hati sa lahat ng Pilipino. Ang GDP per capita ay naghahati sa GDP at sa populasayon ng Pilipinas.
