ANG kalagayan at kapasidad ng ospital sa mga pasyenteng tinamaan ng coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) ang pagbabatayan ng magiging quarantine status sa Abril.
Ito ang inihayag ng Malacañang sa gitna ng pangamba sa lalo pang pagsirit ng bilang ng kaso ng nakahahawang sakit sa bansa.
Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, isa ito sa tinatawag nilang formula sa pagdedesisyon kung ano ang susunod na hakbang o magiging klasipikasyon ng protocol.
Paliwanag ni Roque, malinaw na sa oras na maging problema na ang kapasidad sa mga pagamutan, kailangan nang baguhin ang quarantine classification upang matugunan ang pagkaubos ng kama sa mga ospital.
Sa ngayon, nasa 55% ang availability ng mga ICU (Intensive Care Unit) at nasa halos 60% pa rin aniya ang mga wards at COVID ward ng mga pagamutan sa bansa sa kabuuan.
Samantala, iniulat na puno na ang Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ng Philippine General Hospital (PGH) na isa sa pinaka-malaking COVID-19 referral center.
Ito’y kasabay ng pagsirit ng kaso ng COVID-19 na naitatala kada araw sa mga nakalipas na linggo.
Ayon kay PGH Spokesperson Jonas Del Rosario, nasa 86.66% na ang okupado ng COVID-19 patients sa nasabing pagamutan.
Ngunit dahil marami pa ang naghihintay na ma-admit, nagbukas pa sila ng 30 pang kama para matugunan ang mga ito.
Ngunit, ani Del Rosario, hanggang dito na lang ang bilang na kaya nilang i-commit sa gobyerno dahil kailangan pa rin nilang tugunan at paglaanan ng lugar ang mga non-COVID patient.
