KUMPIYANSA pa rin ang Tamiya, Inc., isang Japanese producer ng plastic model kits at radio-controlled cars, sa Pilipinas kung saan plano nitong i-expand ang manufacturing facility nito sa bansa.
Ayon sa Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), ang Tamiya ay mag-iinvest ng P2 billion para sa bagong manufacturing line sa loob ng Cebu Light Industrial Park.
Ang production plant sa Cebu ang tanging manufacturing operation ng Tamiya sa labas ng Japan, bagaman mayroon din ito sa United States, Germany, at Hong Kong.
“The fact that Tamiya has been operating in the country for about 30 years and is now moving forward with expansion plans despite the challenges of the pandemic, is testament to the enabling environment that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, together with his economic managers, have set up for foreign direct investors,” wika ni DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez.
Sa planomg expansion, layon ng Tamiya na madagdagan ang manufacturing capacity nito ng 20 percent para mapataas ang output ng 5 percent sa loob ng tatlong taon.
Target ng Japanese manufacturer na simulan ang operasyon ng bagong planta sa September 2023.
Lilikha ito ng 300 trabaho kapag nakumpleto ang bagong pasilidad, na karagdagan sa mahigit 1,200 manpower nito na may kinalaman sa model assembly.
Ang Tamiya cars ay tinatangkilik ng hobbyists sa buong mundo dahil sa kanilang exceptional quality at accuracy.
