NAGTALA ng double-digit growth ang paggasta ng pamahalaan sa imprastruktura sa first half ng 2024 sa likod ng maagap na pagpapatupad ng iba’t ibang road projects ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), ayon sa Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
Sa Kapihan sa Manila Bay news forum, sinabi ni Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman na ang infrastructure spending sa unang anim na buwan ng taon ay pumalo sa P720.5 billion.
Ayon kay Pangandaman, mas mataas ito ng P111.9 billion o 18.4% sa kaparehong panahon noong nakaraang taon.
“This was equivalent to 5.7% of GDP (gross domestic product) vis-a-vis 5.6% of the full-year target for this year,” ani Pangandaman.
Ang infrastructure spending noong January-June 2023 ay nasa P608.6 billion.
Nahigitan din ng first semester 2024 infrastructure disbursements ang target na P671.3 billion ng 7.3% o P49.2 billion, para sa naturang panahon.
Ayon sa budget chief, ang pagtaas ay sa likod ng spending na isinagawa ng DPWH na kasing aga ng Enero ngayong taon.
“As early as January we have already provided them with their allotments… Most of the projects of the DPWH have undergone early procurement… so by January, most projects were already implemented,” aniya.
“The growth in infrastructure spending was also due to the implementation of various road infrastructure programs and completion of some ongoing projects of the DPWH nationwide, as well the capital outlay projects under the RAFPMP (Revised AFP Modernization Program) of the DND (Department of National Defense),” ayon pa sa DBM.
Para sa 2024, ang pamahalaan ay naglaan ng P1.510 trillion para sa infrastructure outlays.
Mas mataas ito ng P180 million kumpara sa P1.130 trillion na inilaan sa imprastruktura noong nakaraang taon.
