INAASAHAN ng Asian Development Bank (ADB) na lalago ang ekonomiya ng Pilipinas ng 6 percent ngayong 2024, kasunod ng 5.5-percent expansion noong 2023.
Sa kanilang latest Asian Development Outlook, itinaya rin ng ADB ang 6.2-percent gross domestic product (GDP) growth para sa Pilipinas sa susunod na taon, dahilan upang maging isa ito sa fastest-growing economies sa Asia.
Ang growth forecasts ng global financial institution para sa Pilipinas para sa 2024 at 2025 ay hindi nagbago.
“Domestic demand, along with a recovery in merchandise exports, drove the 5.7-percent GDP growth in first quarter of 2024,” ayon sa ADB.
“Household consumption growth, while below last year’s level, remained the main contributor supported by low unemployment and remittances from overseas workers. Brisk public infrastructure spending continued to lift growth. Merchandise exports rebounded, particularly electronic products about 60 percent of total exports, while services exports remained buoyant, including tourism and business process outsourcing,” dagdag pa nito,
Sinabi ng ADB na ang bumabagal na inflation at ang inaasahang monetary easing sa second half ng 2024 ay susuporta sa household consumption at investment.
Pinanatili ng ADB ang inflation forecast nito para sa Pilipinas sa 3.8 percent sa 2024 at 3.4 percent sa 2025.
