PUMALO ang gross international reserves (GIR) ng Filipinas sa bagong record-high na $98 billion hanggang noong katapusan ng Hulyo 2020, ayon sa datos ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
Ang end-July GIR level ay mas mataas ng $4.531 billion kumpara sa $93.469-billion na naitala noong katapusan ng Hunyo.
Ang foreign reserves na naitala noong nakaraang buwan ang pinakamataas na GIR level sa kasalukuyan.
“The month-on-month increase in the GIR level reflected inflows mainly from the revaluation gains from the BSP’s gold holdings, National Government’s foreign currency deposits with the BSP as well as BSP’s income from its investments abroad,” ayon sa BSP.
“These inflows were partly offset, however, by the foreign currency withdrawals made by the National Government to pay its foreign currency debt obligations,” dagdag pa nito.
Ang end-July foreign reserves ay katumbas ng 8.9 months na halaga ng imports ng goods at payments ng services atprimary income.
“It is also about 7.5 times the country’s short-term external debt based on original maturity and 4.9 times based on residual maturity.”
