SEAG: GOLD TARGET NG 6 PINOY KICKBOXERS

BAC NINH, Vietnam. – Anim na Pinoy, sa pangunguna nina Jean Claude Saclag at Gina Iniong Araos, ang magtatangka sa  gold medal sa finals ng 31st Southeast Asian Games kickboxing tourney ngayong Biyernes sa Bac Ninh Gymnasium sa Hanoi.

Makakasagupa ni Saclag, ang reigning champion sa men’s low kick 63.5kg class, si Chaleamlap Santidongsakun ng Thailand habang makakaharap ni Araos,  isa ring defending champion, ang isa pang Thai, sa katauhan ni Waraporn Jaiteang, sa women’s low kick minus 60kg class.

Sasalang din para sa gold sina Renalyn Dacquel na makakalaban si  hometown bet Thi Hang Nga Nguyen sa women’s minus 48kg full contact category; Gretel De Paz vs Indonesian Pieter Ariesta sa women’s full contact minus 56kg division; Zeph Ngaya kontra Vietnamese Huynh Thi Kim Vang sa women’s minus 65kg full contact finale; at Claudine Veloso vs Amanda Loupatty ng Indonesia sa women’s minus 52kg low kick division.

Naniniwala si Samahang Kickboxing ng Pilipinas (SKP) Secretary-General Atty. Wharton Chan na mahihigitan ng bansa ang 2019 SEA Games haul na 3 golds, 2 silvers, at isang bronze sa regional showpiece ngayong taon

“Our athletes have done a tremendous performance and exceptional job despite fighting in a hostile terrain after beating several Vietnamese athletes,” sabi ni Chan.

“I predict we can be at 80 percent or 5-of-6 or maybe 4-of-6 in winning golds in tomorrow’s finals. We can surpass the three golds last time.”
