SENADO PAG-AARALAN ANG MAHARLIKA FUND BILL

SINIMULAN  ng Senado ang debate nito sa panukalang batas na lumilikha ng Maharlika Investment Fund, na naglalayong lumikha ng unang sovereign wealth fund ng bansa.

Sinabi ni Senador Sonny Angara na nakikita niya ang mahahabang debate habang sinusubukan ng mga senador na i-threth out ang ilan sa mga pinag-uusapang probisyon ng panukala.

“It’ll be on the composition of the board. Who can sit? What are the powers? What are the safeguards? What are the accountabilities? What are the penalties? What are the allowable fees?” ani Angara.

“I think there’s a current 2 percent. Although that is the practice, I understand in the industry, it seemed to be a little on the hindsight given if you are managing P500 billion in investible funds, 2 percent of that is quite a sizable amount,” dagdag pa niya.

Ang MIF ay isa sa mga priority measure ng administrasyong Marcos.

Sinabi ni Angara, chairman ng Senate committee on finance, na higit pang mga pagsusuri sa panukala ang inaasahan.

“In the coming days or weeks, we’ll see further refinements because many senators have very strong views on the Maharlika bill.” LIZA SORIANO
