(Simula sa 2025) 4 PANG DIGITAL BANKS SWAK SA PINAS

APAT na bagong digital banks ang bibigyan ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) ng lisensiya simula sa January 1, 2025.

Ayon sa BSP, mula anim na digital bank licensees, inaprubahan ng Monetary Board ang cap na 10 digital banks para mag-operate sa bansa, sa layuning mapalakas ang Philippine financial system.

“With this cap, the BSP can closely monitor the digital banking industry’s development, gain broader insights as these banks mature, and assess the impact of new entrants,” sabi ni BSP Governor Eli Remolona, Jr.
Sa kasalukuyan, ang anim na digital banks na nag-ooperate sa bansa ay ang Maya, GoTyme, Tonik, Overseas Filipino Bank (OFBank), UNObank at UnionDigital ng UnionBank.

“We have based our decision from our assessment of the operations of digital banks,” dagdag ng Governor.

Aniya, isasaalang-alang ng BSP ang katatagan sa pananalapi ng mga digital bank.

Ang mga bagong digital bank applicant ay isasailalim sa mahigpit na licensing process na magtatasa sa kanilang value proposition, business models, resource capabilities, ownership transparency, shareholder suitability, at corporate governance, ayon sa central bank.

“Applicants must offer unique products and services with significant potential to reach broader, underserved market segments,” ani Remolona .
