Ang hangarin para sa isang mas pinabuti na workforce ng mga Pilipino ay ­bumubuti dahil sa pangunguna ng SM Supermalls, Private Sector Advisory ­Council (PSAC), Jobstreet by SEEK, at kanilang mga partner sa ­pamamagitan ng “Trabaho Para sa Bayan: Job Opportunities Building Skills (J.O.B.S.) ­Commitment ­Ceremony” noong Mayo 9, 2024, sa SM Mall of Asia Music Hall. Layunin ng ­inisyatibong ito na tulungan ang mga naghahanap ng trabaho at mga potensyal na employer, at ­tugunan ang hamon ng kawalan ng trabaho sa Pilipinas.

Ang seremonya, na nagtipon ng mga malalaking kumpanya sa industriya, kilalang mga asosasyon, at mga pinuno ng gobyerno — kabilang ang SM Supermalls, ang nangungunang mall operator sa Pilipinas, Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP), Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), at Philippine Expor­ters Confederation (PHILEXPORT) — upang mag-host ng serye ng mga job fair at magbigay ng online job matching platform, ay nagpapakita ng isang sama-samang pagsisikap tungo sa iisang layunin.

Ipinapakita ang dedikasyon ng SM sa layuning ito. “Since January, SM has hosted more than 60 job fairs nationwide, gathering around 2,000 employers, and engaging more than 35,000 applicants, with a significant number receiving on-the-spot job offers,” sabi ni SM Foundation Executive Director Deborah Sy. “SM will continue to host weekly job fairs across various SM Supermalls nationwide with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Public Employment Service Offices (PESO) till November – in accessible and comfortable venues where companies and job seekers can find their right match.”

Kasabay ng commitment ceremony, naganap ang isang job fair kung saan 44% ng mga aplikante ang Hired-on-the-Spot (HOTS), ang pinakamataas na porsyento sa 60 job fairs. Kasama rito ang iba’t ibang employer na aktibong naghahanap ng mga talento kabilang ang mga sumusunod na brands: BDO Unibank, BDO Life, SM Home/Homeworld, Our Home, SM Store, SM Retail, SM Fashion, Savemore, SM Stationery, SM Supermalls, SM Supermarket, Surplus, SM Hypermarket, Sports Central, 2GO, Ace Hardware, Alfamart, Goldilocks, Kultura, Baby Company, Star Appliance Center, The Body Shop, Toy Kingdom, at Watsons.

Higit pa sa pisikal na mga job fairs, inanunsyo ng SM Foundation at Jobstreet by SEEK ang isang digital partnership. Ang online platform na ito ay naglalayong palawakin ang saklaw ng mga oportunidad sa paghahanap ng trabaho para sa mga Pilipino, at nakikipagtulungan ang mga asosasyon ng industriya upang gamitin ito para sa pag-advertise ng kanilang mga bakanteng posisyon.
