SOPHIE ALBERT NA-DISLOCATE ANG PANGA

UNANG napansin ang Kapuso actress na si Sophie Albert sa Kapuso primetime series na “Pamilya Roces.” Daring man ang kanyang role roon, it had a touch of comedy.

In stark contrast, in her new teleserye, “Bihag,” her being a villain is more of the evil type.

“I’m pretty sure na kaiinisan nila ako. Kahit ako, naiinis,” said Sophie half-amused at the presscon of her new Kapuso teleserye “Bihag” recently, held at GMA Network Center, in Quezon City.

According to Sophie, she is enjoying her new status as a contravida. Okay lang daw sa kanya ang mga negang reaction. After all, it only means one thing, she is doing a good job.

Isn’t she scared to be typecast in contravida roles?

“Basta may work,” she said good-naturedly, “go, go tayo riyan.”

Just like in her former soap, may pisikalan rin daw sila ni Max Collins. Hindi raw dinadaya ang kanilang mga sampalan scenes ni Max. Kumbaga, totohanan. “Masakit, masakit,” she said. “Kasi, pangit naman kung peke.

“After that, yakap naman, sorry… ganu’n talaga. You’ll not take it personal. Gusto ko rin naman ng natural.”

Pero no comparison daw ang natikman niyang sampal sa “Pamilya Roces” courtesy of Carla Abellana.

“Wala,” she bluntly admitted. “Walang tatalo kay Carla sa lakas ng sampal. Nag-ano ang jaw ko roon, nag-disalign.”

Pero okay lang, it’s work.

Kahit palagi raw siyang second choice, walang rek­lamo si Sophie.

“Very thankful and sinuwerte, sinuwerte lang din ako.

“Palagi akong nag-i-step in for someone else. I feel very lucky,” she ventured.

It pays not to be choosy. Sa “Pamilya Roces,” pinalitan niya si Winwyn Marquez who felt that she wasn’t ready for daring roles like that. Dito naman sa “Bihag,” si Kim Domingo ang first choice bilang kabit ni Jason Abalos, but she nixed the offer. “Parang for me,” Sophie intoned, “it doesn’t matter as long as you land the role.

“Ako naman, I’m just here to work. Gusto ko lang na gumaling, gusto ko lang to get better, ganu’n.”

Pero hindi ba siya na­ngangarap na magbida naman sa susunod na serye sa GMA 7?

When she was still with TV5, she was always delineating lead roles.

“Wala, wala akong ganu’n,” she voiced out her innermost feelings. “Mas maganda ‘yung hindi ka nag-e-expect kasi. None of these roles naman, in-expect ko.

“None of these naman, inisip ko na mapupunta sa akin. Ang GMA naman, very rewarding sila. So, whatever comes.”

Speaking of “Bihag,” Sophie has nothing but good words for Jason Abalos.

“Jason is very caring and very gentlemanly when it comes to our scene,” she said in earnest. “Palagi niya akong tinatanong, ‘Okay ka na ba,’ ‘okay ka na ba?’

“I feel very respected and protected by Jason. Maganda na I’m working with actors like that.”

Magkakilala ba sina Vin at Jason?

“Hindi… hindi ko alam?” she said half amused.
