IBABAHAGI ng mga kilalang Filipino coach, athlete, at sports educator ang kanilang mga kuwento at pananaw sa pagbalanse ng isports at buhay sa episode ng Rise Up, Shape Up web series ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ngayong araw.
“The things athletes and sports players learn in the playing field transcend to real life, especially at crucial times like a pandemic. When faced with difficulties and challenges, that is when our characters are tested.” wika ni PSC Chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez, at idinagdag na hindi lamang ito tungkol sa kumpetisyon kundi maging sa mahalagang kasanayan sa buhay.
Ang episode ay tatampukan ni College of Human Kinetics assistant professor Robin Darwin Tuliao ng Cagayan State University. Si Tuliao ay isang multi-medalist Cagayanon sa athletics, na minsang nagsilbi bilang Program Coordinator for the Graduate School in Physical Education sa Taipei American School sa Taiwan. Isa siyang certified Group Suspension Training Specialist, certified kinesiology taping practitioner, licensed professional teacher, at accredited International Amateur Athl etics Federation Level 1 National Technical Official and Coach for Athletics.
Si Tuliao ay sasamahan nina professor Trinidad Lumna, Chairperson ng Bachelor of Physical Education (BPE) ng Tarlac State University at Anne Daphien Baisa mula sa Sienna College Quezon City. Ang episode ay iho-host ni Arlene Ong, ang unang lay dean ng College Department ng Sienna College Quezon City.
Si Professor Lumna ay naging lawn tennis player noong kanyang kabataan at nagsilbi ring coach para sa individual at team sports, habang si Baisa ay isang icensed Physical Education teacher at volleyball coach sa Siena College Quezon City.
Binigyang-diin ni PSC Women in Sports oversight Commissioner Celia Kiram ang magandang epekto ng sports sa pagbibigay kapangyarihan sa mga kababaihan sa bansa. Iginiit niya na ang female representation sa sports ay may malaking naiaambag sa paghubog sa young girls at women.
“Seeing women athletes play and compete means girls are strong too, both in sports and real life. Sports is a platform to make young girls more equipped for life’s challenges,” ani Kiram.
