NAGKASUNDO ang Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) at ang Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) na hingin ang suporta ng local government units sa paghahanda ng Team Philippines para sa 31st Southeast Asian Games na gaganapin sa Vietnam sa Nobyembre.
May misyong madepensahan ang korona o matamo ang top-three finish sa panahong ito ng global health crisis, ang national team ay nahaharap sa matinding hamon.
Sinimulan ni POC President Congressman Abraham Tolentino ang pagpupulong sa pamamagitan ng katanungan sa budget, “What if the 200 million allocated budget fall short?”
Kalahati ng tinatayang magagastos sa kampanya ng bansa ay mapupunta sa aktuwal na paglahok ng halos 700-man delegation.
Kasunod ng diskusyon ay nagkasundo ang grupo na pormal na hilingin ang tulong ng LGUs na nakahandang maging “ninong” ng mga koponan at isponsoran ang ilang aspeto ng kanilang pagsasanay tulad ng venue, meals, at billeting.
“Baka may gusto magninong muna sa ating mga atletea, we are very open to this,” wika ni PSC Commissioner Ramon Fernandez, na siya ring Chef de Mission sa SEAG.
Pinaalalahanan naman ni Tolentino ang grupo na mahalagang makipag-ugnayanan sa Department of the Interior and Local Government para magpalabas ito ng direktiba sa “godfather-LGU program.”
Nangako rin siyang iisponsoran ang cycling at skateboarding sa kanyang distrito.
“The joint secretariat for the SEAG are carefully working on the SEAG plan,” paliwanag ni Fernandez, at binigyang-diin ang epekto ng pandemya sa pagsasagawa ng nakasanayang full trainings ng nationals.
Target masimulan sa Hulyo 1 ang training, sinabi ni Fernandez na may panahon pa para makausap ang LGUs.
