ISUSULONG ni Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III ang dagdag-sahod sa hanay ng mga nurse at medical worker sa pribadong sector
Sa isang press conference, sinabi ni Bello na magsusumite siya ng proposal sa Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) para taasan ang entry level salary ng nurses at medical workers sa P26,000.
“I am going to present to the IATF a bill that will propose the increase of our nurses and medical workers in the private sector to the level of the nurses and medical workers in the public sector,” sabi ni Bello.
Aniya, aprubado ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III ang paghahain niya ng suhestiyon sa IATF.
Nauna rito ay nanawagan ang Filipino Nurses United (FNU) na taasan ang minimum wage at mga benepisyo ng private sector nurses, at sinabing nagkakaloob din sila ng katulad na serbisyo ng mga nasa public sector.
Habang ang public sector nurses ay nakasisiguro ng umento sa ilalim ng Circular 2002-4 ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM), sinabi ng FNU na ang mga nurse sa mga pribadong ospital ay hindi kasama.
“Sadly, no equivalent decree that may apply for nurses in the private sector to accord them due recognition and at par compensation to ease them from their present miserable condition even though both belong to one profession rendering same service for the general population,” anang FNU.
Idinagdag pa ng grupo na may ilang nurse sa pribadong sektor ang hindi man lamang makabili ng sarili nilang basic needs dahil mas mababa pa sa minimum wage ang kanilang sahod.
“The wage of nurses in the private sector is way below at P537 daily for those in NCR and much lower at P280 per day in BARMM with some nurses getting an insultingly low P5,000 to P10,000 average monthly salary,” ayon sa grupo.
