SA WAKAS ay natatanaw na ang hustisya sa kasong impeachment na isinampa noong nakaraan pang taon sa Mababang Kapulungan ng Filipino League of Advocates for Good Governance – Maharlika (FLAG-Maharlika) laban kay Supreme Court Justice Marvic Leonen kasunod ng direkta ni Speaker Lord Allan Jay Velasco kay Majority Leader Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez na aksyunan ang nasabing asunto.
Nakasaad sa 25 March 2021 memo ni Velasco kay Romualdez ang sumusunod: “We endorse herewith the original copies of the Impeachment Complaint filed by Mr. Edwin M. Cordevilla against Associate Justice Mario Victor F. Leonen of the Supreme Court. The said complaint was endorsed by Rep. Angelo Marcos Barba, 2nd District, Ilocos Sur. For your appropriate action.”
Labis na ikinatuwa ng FLAG-Maharlika ang naturang hakbang.
“FLAG-Maharlika welcome the latest development and expressed optimism that the duly elected representatives in Congress “will do their sworn duty to review and vote on the merits of our complaint against (Associate Justice Marvic) Leonen,” pahayag ng FLAG-Maharlika.
Dagdag pa nito: “We trust that given the precedent set forth in similar past rulings regarding our Supreme Court Justices for far lesser offences that Justice will prevail.”
Nauna rito ay nagpahayag ng pagkadismaya si Cordevilla dahil mula Disyembre ng nakaraang taon nang isinampa ng FLAG-Maharlika ang kasong impeachment case laban kay Leonen dahil sa “culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust” na sinabi mismo ng House Secretary General na “sufficient in form” ay walang aksyon na isinagawa.
“God-willing should the majority of our representatives find our complaint with merit, let this serve as warning to those in the Judiciary who purposely delay Justice that Justice delayed is Justice denied,” ani Cordevilla.
