INAASAHANG makararanas ang mga taga-Luzon ng rotational brownouts hanggang sa Hunyo 7 sa gitna ng manipis na power supply bunga ng outages ng ilang planta, ayon sa National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
Sa isang virtual press conference, sinabi ni NGCP spokesperson Cynthia Alabanza na ang red at yellow alert statuses na itinaas sa Luzon grid ay maaaring magpatuloy hanggang sa Hunyo 7 maliban sa weekends kung kailan karaniwang mababa ang demand sa koryente.
Nauna rito ay inilagay ng NGCP ang Luzon grid sa ilalim ng yellow alert mula alas-9 ng umaga hanggang alas-10 ng umaga, mula alas-5 ng hapon hanggang alas-6 ng gabi, at mula alas-10 ng gabi hanggang alas-12 ng umaga, at red alert mula alas-10 ng umaga hanggang alas-5 ng hapon at mula alas- 6 ng gabi hanggang alas-10 ng gabi.
Nagpapakita ito na may zero ancillary services o may umiiral na generation deficiency.
Ayon sa NGCP, ang available capacity ng grid ay nasa 11,408 megawatts habang ang peak demand ay tinatayang nasa 11,593 megawatts (MW).
Sa pagtaya ng NGCP ay may power supply deficiency na 201 MW.
Para mapanatili ang “integridad ng power system” ay sinabi ng grid operator na maaari itong magpatupad ng manual load dropping (MLD) o rotational brownouts sa Luzon.
Sinabi naman ni NGCP head of Luzon System Beng Abadilla na inaasahan nilang babalik sa normal ang electricity supply situation sa Hunyo 8 dahil gagana nang muli ang major plant na sumailalim sa ‘forced outage’.
“Depende rin ‘yun kung maayos nila ang problema sa planta like boiler tube leak,” ani Abadilla.
