IMAGINE the battle-weary Army soldiers in a gunfight with their best weapons and have the capability to win. They are considered as the living heroes because of their bravery and dedication to fight for the sake of our country. Relating their plight, teachers are like soldiers. They are the warriors in the Department of Education. They are the superheroes in the sense that they transformed, mold and even changed the lives of the learners from nothing to fully grown individual.
Teachers are the yardstick that measures pupils’ knowledge and success. If without them, there will be ignorance, there were no soldiers, teachers, engineers, architects and other professionals in the world. They are the instrument to make the minds and soul of each learners to become good and worthy individuals.
It’s Teachers Day once again. From September 5-October 5 is the day for our dear teachers. It’s a day to give tribute to them who spent most of their times in school considering that they have their own families waiting for them in their homes, teachers who dedicate themselves in teaching in order to attain their goals which is to educate the young not only their mental aspect but also their social, moral and spiritual aspects in life as a whole. They serve as a second parent of their students, and yet they are unsung heroes.
Teachers receive minimum salaries compared to others. They arrived to school too early and stay late in the afternoon. They work part of weekends without any complain.
“Comply first before you complain” and “Resign if you can no longer endure the hardship of being a teacher” are just but common words. These are mottos of every teachers who only depend from their monthly salaries. They attend seminars in the district, division, regional and international to enhance their knowledge on the new trends of Education with their own expenses. They are willing to do anything in order to give quality education that the pupils deserve to get.
