TECHNOLOGY NEEDS FOR LEARNING

GOING back to the basics would still require embracing technology pursuits.

Based from studies and webinars, there is a need for effective digital learning requires resources and coordination. Schools had closed their doors for face-to-face classes and alternatives to classroom-based instruction requires patience.

However, the limited face-to-face is a blessing for teachers and students. Yet, technology would still be embraced.

A smooth transition to digital learning requires that all students have access to technology and the Internet; teachers have the training, support, and expertise to use remote technology to drive instruction aligned with their planned curriculum; and parents or guardians are equipped to support and oversee students’ participation in digital learning activities. It takes time and coordination to achieve this target.

Those big and urban-based schools with ample resources have been able to provide digital lessons and activities, but many public schools have far less experience and resources to do their chores.

Modular learning is still being generally accepted as online classes, as well as radio-based and television-based models are not implementable in rural areas or villages while these challenging times push us to survive with the current crisis.

As our education system moves toward remote learning, schools need to collect information on families’ technology needs. Teachers need more ample training and support to use technology and data privacy in and outside the classrooms.

Understanding technology is a thing of the present and future as school leaders and teaching staff work for support in learning.

Embracing technology, indeed, is a must for teachers and students.
