TINIYAK ng Department of Agriculture (DA) sa publiko na may sapat na suplay ng mga gulay sa bansa sa gitna ng nagpapatuloy na COVID-19 pandemic.Ayon kay DA High-Value Crops Program (HVCP) Director U-Nichols Manalo, para sa buong 2021 ay makaaasa ang publiko ng sapat na suplay ng mga gulay.

Tinukoy ang 2021 supply and demand outlook ng ahensiya, sinabi ni Manalo na ang local sufficiency level ng low-land vegetables para sa first quarter ng taon ay nasa 78%.

Inaasahang tataas pa ito sa 83% at 87% sa second at third quarters, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

Sa fourth quarter,  ang sufficiency level ng lowland vegetables ay tinatayang nasa 73%, na maglalagay sa full year level sa 80%.

Ang lowland vegetables ay kinabibilangan ng ampalaya, talong, kalabasa, pechay, kamaris, at sitaw.

Para sa upland vegetables, tinataya ng DA ang local sufficiency level na 193% para sa buong 2021.

Sa first quarter pa lamang, ang sufficiency level para sa upland vegetables ay inaasahan sa 162%.

Tinatayang tataas pa ito sa 181% sa second quarter, sa 226% sa third quarter, at sa 204% sa fourth quarter ng taon.

Kabilang sa upland vegetables ang carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, bell pepper, at ­pechay.
